HRH Global Resource Center Assessment Selected as Top Knowledge Management Case Story

The Knowledge-Driven Microenterprise Development project selected CapacityPlus’s case story, “The HRH Global Resource Center: Strengthening the global health workforce through KM,” as a Top Case Story in the KM Impact Challenge. The HRH Global Resource Center (GRC) is the project’s digital library of human resources for health information, and currently holds over 2,600 resources.

Health worker at Hospital Santo TomasCorinne Farrell, knowledge services manager for IntraHealth International, wrote and submitted the story in collaboration with CapacityPlus’s Rebecca Rhodes. “The Challenge provided a great opportunity for those of us working in KM to share our successes—as well as the impact we’ve had and what we’ve learned from the process,” said Farrell.

Farrell and Rhodes have used a variety of methods since the GRC was launched to assess the site and measure its impact, combining ongoing monitoring with periodic assessment. For ongoing monitoring, they track indicators including:

  • User visits and requests
  • Numbers of newsletter subscriptions, websites linking to the GRC
  • Numbers of new resources added in designated priority topics, tools and resources created by the GRC team, and countries accessing the GRC.

As a top finalist, Farrell will present the case story at the KM Impact Challenge unConference that will take place in Washington, DC in May. The unConference will also provide an open space for peer-to-peer learning and collaboration around topics related to measuring knowledge management impact.
