Stage 5: Monitor Progress

Step 2: Ensure measures to monitor quality

While detailed discussions on implementing the quality improvement process are beyond the scope of this toolkit, it is important to monitor quality to ensure that productivity improvements do not come at the expense of quality. Measures to monitor quality include direct observation, quality standard checklists, patient satisfaction surveys or exit surveys, and other mechanisms to elicit community feedback, such as village health committees.  For additional resources on assessing quality, please refer to the Introduction tab on Approaches to Assess and Improve Quality.
