Stage 5: Monitor Progress

Once health workforce productivity improvements have been implemented, it is time to monitor their progress on the productivity dashboard to see what effect the interventions have had on total health workforce productivity. Progress should be assessed after allowing sufficient time for the intervention actions to take effect, generally after one year. However, it is important to more frequently monitor progress toward implementing specific steps of an intervention to be able to address implementation challenges as they arise and quickly make needed midcourse corrections. To make sure that productivity improvements do not come at the expense of quality, the implementation monitoring process should also pay attention to the quality of services.
