An exciting new CapacityPlus HRIS strengthening initiative is providing support to regional organizations as they adapt and implement the iHRIS software. As mentioned in a recent blog, on May 10-11, the West African Health Organization (WAHO) held an important regional meeting to present the outcomes of a joint WAHO/Ghana Ministry of Health pilot of the iHRIS Manage software in the country’s Northern Region.
WAHO was created by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and serves its 15 member countries. HRH managers from 12 of the countries attended, along with representatives from the World Health Organization, the Global Health Workforce Alliance, and the Health Metrics Network. Dykki Settle, HRIS Team Lead, also attended the meeting and presented on CapacityPlus and the iHRIS software.
Participants accepted the pilot report, which stated the pilot was “a remarkable success. In all, HR and IT staff were successfully trained in the use and administration of the system. The iHRIS appliance was easily installed into a network of five computers… which encompasses the office of the Regional Director of Health Services. The system was successfully customized and configured to suit the organizational structure of the Health Services of the Northern Region of Ghana.”
During the meeting, representatives from Ghana announced plans to roll iHRIS Manage out to its other regions. Representatives from four other countries expressed immediate interest in adopting the software. Other recommendations and next steps include:
