Constance NewmanConstance Newman, IntraHealth International, Senior Team Lead, Gender Equality and Health
Constance Newman creates practical tools and methodologies to help decision-makers and leaders at all levels understand the challenges of gender inequality and what it means for the health workforce. She has over 25 years of experience in health and development programs all over the world. Newman conducts research on gender discrimination in the health workforce in Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Kenya, and she helps organizations use results to promote equal opportunity and gender equality at work. She has been an advisor to national governments and nongovernmental organizations on evaluation, research, policy, and gender equality. Newman is advising a project on gender-based violence in Mongolia led by the Asia Foundation. As an adjunct professor of maternal and child health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Newman is working to integrate gender into global public health schools in North Carolina. She serves as chair of the Triangle Global Health Consortium’s Gender Working Group.
